Fart with reverb
The same fart, five rooms. Start dry and work your way up to the cathedral, where the echo goes on for about four seconds. Press Play again for a new take.
Dry (no reverb)
Open air. No witnesses, no echo. The control group.
Wooden chair
A short, boxy bloom with two loud resonances. Amplified, unfortunately.
Bathtub
Under water, then off the tile. Bubbles included.
Elevator
A small, hard box with a ringing middle. Nowhere to hide.
Cathedral (maximum reverb)
About four seconds of echo. This is the meme.
Random fart, cathedral
Anything could happen, and the whole building will hear it.
Why reverb makes a fart funny
A fart is short and close. Reverb is the sound of a big space answering back. Put the two together and a small, private noise suddenly fills a cathedral, which is why the fart with reverb became a stock punchline in videos and memes.
The rooms here are not recordings of rooms. Each echoing one is a small model: a set of delays, each feeding back into itself and then smeared by a few more, tuned for how long the echo lasts and how quickly the high end dies away. The cathedral takes about 3.8 seconds to fall silent. The wooden chair barely rings at all, but it adds two loud bumps, at 165 and 410 Hz, which is the sound of a seat joining in.

Questions
- What is the fart with reverb sound?
- A short fart played with a long echo, as if it happened in a huge stone hall. It works as a punchline because the echo makes a small, private noise sound enormous and public.
- Can I download the fart with reverb?
- Yes. Play one, then press Save this one as WAV. Every take is built from public-domain recordings, so you can use the file in your own videos and edits. The Sunday Service WAV is a ready-made cathedral version.
- Why does it sound different every time?
- Each press builds a new fart from real flap cycles, so the timing and texture change while the room stays the same.
- How do I make my own?
- Open the fart sound generator, shape a fart with the sliders and pick Cathedral under the rooms.
- Is it free?
- Yes. No app, no sign-up, no ads.
